Welcome Food and Hospitality Management
August 20, 2019
After a year of affiliate status, Drexel University’s Center for Food and Hospitality Management became the Department of Food and Hospitality Management (FHM) in the College of Nursing and Health Professions (CNHP) on July 1, 2019.
“We are excited to welcome Food and Hospitality Management into the College of Nursing and Health Professions,” said Laura N. Gitlin, PhD, FGSA, FAAN, Distinguished University Professor and Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions. “Their faculty and staff are stunningly dedicated to the students and the surrounding community, bringing purpose and passion to the work they do every day.”
The integration of the new department within CNHP strengthens existing relationships, academic programs, infrastructure and research initiatives, and also opens up leadership and inter-professional programs for all students. “Healthcare and hospitality have a natural intersection,” said Stephanie Brooks, PhD, associate dean for Academic Health Professions programs. “Nursing and health professions students can learn from food and hospitality management’s creative approaches to developing cultures of service and care to meet the needs of family members, caregivers and communities.”
Drexel has always been a leader in providing a forward-thinking education, so that students can change the world. With innovation and purpose at the center of our mission at the College of Nursing and Health Professions, we look forward to creating new opportunities for students to learn and thrive.
